Sophia Ministry

Ministering to women of St. Andrew the Apostle by offering a welcoming and caring environment in which to gather, share and celebrate our common faith, build a sense of community and provide social, spiritual and service opportunities enriching and empowering the lives of women.

What is The Sophia Ministry?

The Sophia Ministry was created in 2007 to minister to the women of St. Andrew’s. During the formation process, the name, Sophia, was recommended by Fr. Joe Hennessey, St. Andrew’s founding pastor. As he explained, Sophia is the Greek word for Wisdom and can be found throughout the Bible as a reference to Divine Wisdom. We felt this name was a perfect fit for our ministry as we seek to empower women to discover God’s Divine Wisdom and strength within themselves.

The Sophia Ministry is for women who:

  • Wish to connect with other women of the parish
  • Yearn to deepen their spirituality
  • Desire to give back to their parish and community

Goals

Sophia Social Goals

Activities

Because we are a new ministry, we welcome ideas from women of the parish about activities they would like to see offered and that fulfill our Social, Spiritual and Service goals. If you have ideas or suggestions, please contact us. We look forward to offering a wide variety of opportunities for women to gather, share and serve.
