There are a variety of options for adult learning and faith formation at St. Andrew the Apostle. Parishioners may find a large variety of books to reflect on and deepen faith in our parish library. Adults may also join our Wednesday morning scripture study group or join our Why Catholic? program beginning Lent 2009.
A variety of classes are offered on Tuesday evenings throughout the year. These classes are offered for adults. They will meet the needs of three specific groups:
- All Parishioners of St. Andrew the Apostle – This program offers an opportunity to come to a deeper understanding of our Faith, and to recommit ourselves to the journey of discipleship.
- Our Catechists – All those who volunteer to teach our children and teens. Through these courses you can become certified as a teacher of religion by the Diocese.
- All Those in Ministry at St. Andrew the Apostle – These courses will provide the faith formation component required by the diocese for your involvement in ministry.
2010 Schedule
Tuesday, March 16 - World Religions: Being Catholic In a Diverse Religious Culture
Church teachers and leaders continue to call for Christian unity and advocate care and respect for non-Christian religions recognizing "all who see God with a sincere heart" as people of God. Living in a culturally and religiously diverse world can increase fear and violence or lead us to understanding and greater tolerance of differences. This class will explore the Catholic teaching about other Christian and non-Christian traditions and offer resources for study and a deepening understanding of the world's major religions.
Tuesday, April 6 - Solidarity
Jesus tells us that we are our brothers' and sisters' keepers, wherever they live. We are on human family and loving our neighbor has global dimensions. This session will explore Church teaching and offer a reflection process to help us respond in solidarity to others near and far.
Thursday, April 29 - Stewardship of God's Creation
We show our respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation. The environmental challenge has fundamental moral and ethical dimensions that cannot be ignored. This session will explore teaching and practical ways to respond to this imperative.
Wednesday, May 5 - Stewardship of God's Creation - Part 2
The U.S. Bishops have begun and environmental initiative, Catholic Climate Covenant, that invites us to pray, learn, assess, act and advocate. More resources will be shared and explored in this session.
