CDA 2008 -- Helping God’s Children with Special Needs
Brian is a young person who is autistic. He was recently helped by the diocesan Office of Evangelization of People with Disabilities. This office is funded by the annual Charity & Development Appeal. Religious education materials were personalized to meet Brian’s special learning needs. He was able to learn via pictures and artwork – instead of more traditional catechetical methods. As a result, Brian grew in faith and love. And, in addition, he recently received the Sacrament of Confirmation. CDA has helped to make a faith-difference for Brian and his family.

“One Family in Christ”
The annual Charity and Development Appeal (CDA) begins this weekend. The CDA helps families throughout the life-cycle, from infants in the womb to those in later life, who need our care and support.
We are one family and “We are all the CDA” whether we make a gift to the CDA, work in the service organizations who receive campaign funds, or benefit directly from this Diocesan- wide appeal.
Our 2008 parish goal is $368,935. We hope for 100% participation by all households in our community. Please take time to prayerfully discern your 2008 gift to our One Family in Christ. Brochures and Donor Cards are located in the pews. Donor cards can be completed now or again during Masses next weekend. The envelopes with Donor Cards are addressed to St. Andrew the Apostle. If you prefer, take a Donor Card and envelope home, fill out your card and then mail it to St. Andrew the Apostle. Even if you do not plan to make a monetary contribution, please fill out a Donor Card and submit it——it will help St. Andrew’s reach its overall participation rate for 2008. Do you have a couple of hours to donate on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays to sort and label CDA pledge cards? We will begin to process cards on Tuesday, January 30th and continue for approximately 4 to 5 weeks. All help will be greatly appreciated. Please contact

Bless us Lord, and these gifts we are about to receive. Thank you for Your blessings on our family today and throughout the year. We ask that You bless and assist those in our diocese who need our prayers because we are all One Family in Christ. Bless those who are hungry, homeless or struggling to come closer to You. Bless the children, teens and our Seminarians in their journey to Christ. Help us all become more like Jesus in sharing the gifts that You have given us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
