Adult Faith Ministry Group Meeting

Minutes: Meeting on May 1, 2007

In attendance:  Dave Johnson, Nora Caton, Pat Kosis, Tracey Smith, Molly Romine, Terri Vuyk, Marian Rourke, Cathy Olds

The meeting began at 5:30 pm with a supper of soup and salad and a prayer anticipating Pentecost.

  1. A “mock-up†of the 2007-2008Adult Formation Brochure was presented for review.  The six page brochure contains all on-going groups and scheduled events for the year including retreats, JustFaith, Bible Study, Emmaus, Small Faith Communities, RCIA, Confirmation and Spiritual Direction.  There will be an insert with scheduled classes for August through December 2007 with an insert for January through June 2008 to be added later.  The format would allow the brochure to be included in the parish registration packets.  We discussed a number of speakers and events to be added to the schedule.  It was also suggested that link to the diocesan website formation classes be added to the brochure.  The Redemptorist Retreat Center web site will also be added to the list of retreat opportunities.
  2. The group reviewed this year’s RCIA process and discussed the pros and cons of possible changes for next year, particularly changing the meeting time to Sunday morning instead of Monday evening.  
  3. We reviewed dates for next year’s retreats, limiting them to two Busy Person Retreats and one “away†retreat over President’s Day weekend at Living Waters Retreat Center.
  4. The Ministry appreciation event, May 19/20 was discussed and participants were encouraged to watch for their invitation.  The Adult Faith ministry banner done several years ago has not been found.  Cathy will look in the banner room in the church.  Otherwise, Terri Vuyk will bring her daughters to help Cathy complete a new banner in time for the event.
  5. The group discussed the center pieces we would like to provide for the June 16 celebration for Fr. Joe.  Terri Vuyk and Cathy will put together two center pieces, one including a bible and ministry brochure and the other a paper labyrinth/red candle in a bowl of water.

The meeting concluded at 6:40 with a shared prayer to the Holy Spirit.
