Formation discussion on “Inclusivenessâ€, section 2.2 of Pastors Forming Pastors document took place. Responses included the following: needs to be more specific, does not define; inclusiveness leads to stewardship which produces more involvement; internally we do a good job – visitors are very welcome, externally we need global work; we preach to ourselves, so how do we invite the other 76% that aren’t involved?; we are reaching the smaller community, we need to publicize what we are doing more than using the bulletin and website; involvement is self motivated, invitation is individual; neighborhood churches are gone; preach on stewardship previous to the next ministry fair.

Bill and Sandra reported on the last PAC meeting on January 8th. The majority of the agenda was postponed due to the announcement of Fr. Joe’s retirement, which was most of the focus. All are encouraged to become involved on committees for his retirement process. The committee reflected on the same.

Ministry reports: Updated Liturgy calendars for January 13th through April 8th were distributed. The committee was asked to check information on the roster and to make necessary changes. Two new lectors were commissioned in December. The next lector meeting is in February. The evaluation process of the lector taping is continuing and has been very positive. The ministers of hospitality co- chairs have found one person to commit to co-chair- working on others. The next MOH co-chair meeting is on January 16th. The Liturgical dance ministry has twelve active senior dancers, two returned from college to dance during Christmas liturgies. They are rehearsing every Sunday to prepare for Lent and Easter. Looking at dates for summer camp. Music ministry tour for 2008 is planned for Germany/Austria, most likely during the fall. They are hosting the Ash Wednesday spaghetti dinner and hams for Easter. The poinsettias all came from Gardener’s World and the poinsettia trees were new this year for Christmas. EMHC’s co-chairs and Carol are working on formation requirement status update for ministers preparing for recertification, working on Lent and Easter prep. Next major training will be after Easter. Altar servers – 4th server is now carrying the Book of Intentions, next training will be after ministry fair, and they too are still working on replacements as co-chairs for the ministry.

Catechetical weekend topic – Reception of Communion and GIRM Reminders draft was distributed. Committee agreed on document to be submitted to pastor for his input and approval. EMHC’s would like the subject of intinction addressed, as the ministers experience people trying to do this at mass at least twice per month – and is not an accepted practice in our Diocese. Committee recommends this catechesis to be repeated 2-3 weekends before Lent begins. The teen and adult leaders interface has been moved to the next full committee meeting.

Christmas recap: At the 4:00 PM mass in church the MOH’s had to politely deal with a non-parishioner saving two full rows in the chapel who, rudely, would not give them up. The 4:15 PM mass in the social hall turned out to have chairs added in the courtyard anyway. With or without chairs in the courtyard, utilizing this method of overflow is not good liturgy. Need to work with staff to come up with solution for next year. Possible solution could be to add another mass. EMHC’s thanked the MOH’s for their help at the mass in the hall.

Lent: Liturgical environment will include the cave, boulders (to be broken down as last year) and ceiling banners. Holy water to remain in fonts and removed after Holy Thursday liturgy. Water to return as usual during Easter Vigil after water is blessed for Baptisms. Todd Huffman has confirmed that the palms will be delivered for stripping on Friday, March 30th by 10:00 AM. Jerusalem My Destiny will be the gathering song, closing in silence, dancers scheduled for the season. Weekly Stations of the Cross still needs leaders. March 9th and 23rd are being hosted by YM. Please inform Carol ASAP if your ministry would like to lead a week. Holy week specifics will be discussed at the RSC meeting in February. Carol to provide scripts for review. EMHC’s would like to label EM stations in tent in addition to having the diagram. Carol to prepare the tent diagram with an estimated count of chairs for each section. Committee requested an extension of the stage (one panel deeper). Stage curtains were not included last year; Carol to verify and confirm this year. It was requested to see if one parking space could be blocked off nearest the stairs to the tent for better access for those needing assistance, etc.

Called to Protect for Ministers class has been added on Thursday, January 25th from 6:30-9:30 PM- requested by liturgical ministries. Adult Faith Journey class - January 9th @ 9:30 AM & 7:00 PM; Basic Skills for Ministry – January 16th @ 9:30 AM and 7:00 PM – This class is recommended for all ministry leaders.

The 2007 Confirmation schedule was reviewed. Barb Lishko is initial contact for liturgical ministers, (musicians already scheduled), who are family members of the confirmandi who wish to serve for mass. Ministry co-chairs need to be in direct contact with Barb for these masses. Co-chairs to schedule remaining ministers to fill masses. Committee has requested the rehearsal dates for these confirmations. Carol to report from Barb. CDA video will be the weekend of January 20th-21st. Need Ministry Fair date from Stewardship Committee for planning.

All participated in closing prayer.
