Parent/Student Guidelines:

In presenting this policy for participation in our religious education/formation classes, the expectation is to insure a smooth-running and effective faith-sharing environment for all to derive benefit. Please review the following with your child(ren).

Expectations of students and parents

We are a cooperative ministry involving volunteer catechetical ministers, parents and students. There are expectations of both students and parents who are a part of this ministry.

  1. Parents will ensure that children will attend each session, arriving on time and promptly picked up at the designated time. Children will be signed in/out by parents.
  2. Children will respect the rights and property of others.
  3. Parents will model a commitment to Faith Formation by participating in Adult classes.
  4. Parents will make classroom visits as assigned.
  5. Parents will volunteer time and talents.
  6. Parents will be responsible for notifying the office when there is any change in medical or emergency information.
  7. No medications may be administered by a staff member at any time. In the case of a medical emergency a staff member will call 911 and will immediately attempt to notify the child’s parents, guardian or person specified on the registration form by the parent as the emergency contact

Attendance

If your family or child will be absent on any given day, PLEASE CALL the religious education office. If an absence is not confirmed by phone, it will be considered as unexcused. If a class has a waiting list, an absent without notification may result in being dropped to make room for a waiting student.

Expulsion

Expulsion is considered as a last resort and is decided by the Pastor and Coordinator based on the seriousness of the problem. Serious problems may include such things as:

  1. Repeated acts of disobedience.
  2. Physical harm to oneself or others.
  3. Destruction of parish property or property of others
  4. Disregard for classroom rules
  5. Possession of drugs, alcohol or tobacco.
  6. Possession/use of knives, firearms, weapons or potentially harmful objects on the premises.

Vandalism

The child and his/her parents shall be liable for any damages caused by the child to church property.

“DROP-INS” WILL NOT BE ADMITTED. A CHILD MUST BE REGISTERED IN A SPECIFIC CLASS TO BE ADMITTED. CHANGES MUST BE HANDLED THROUGH THE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OFFICE.
