Haiti Outreach

Parish Global Missionary Outreach
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphanage, Jeremie, Haiti

Over a year ago we made a commitment as a parish family to support the good work being done at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphanage in Jeremie, Haiti out of our call as Christians to care for our neighbor and grow in solidarity.  During these past few months we have been very busy.

The Gospel of Jesus invites us to put the riches of care and love for one another first.  Join us in this outreach to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphanage as we care for these little ones in Haiti, the least of these, first through prayer.   Pray for these children each day.  Consider becoming a sponsor or making a one time donation.  In November of 2011 we will be sending a small group of parishioners to visit Haiti and the Orphanage next November.  If you would like to help support someone traveling in November, send in your donation or place it in the orange envelopes available in the church narthex.
Finally, I ask you to pray for our Haiti Outreach ministry as we work to grow this effort of solidarity, and to discover the face of Jesus in the faces of these children of Haiti. – Fr. John Coleman

A Challenge Grant

An anonymous donor has issued the following challenge to us as a parish family:

This donor will match, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $5,000 every gift given to the special project at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphange in Haiti, to build and put into operation a Boulangerie (bread bakery).  If we complete the challenge grant, the Orphanage will be able to cover all the costs of construction and initial operation.

The Boulangerie will provide the Orphanage with all the bread it needs, additional bread to sell in the marketplace, and offer skills training to the children.  Donations of any size are welcome.  Checks can be made out to St. Andrew the Apostle with “Boulangerie project” in the memo line.
